All Kinds of Bras to Try

There are many different kinds of bras for you to try. Many women find that they have one or 2 kinds that they use and almost never deviate from the use of those 1 or 2 favorites. Perhaps you can get some ideas of something new you would like to try and experiment with. Who knows you might find something you like far better than anything you’ve ever used so far.

  • Adhesive Bra – the adhesive is sometimes called a stick-on bra or sometimes more crudely "pasties", as it sticks right on to the breasts, often in individual pieces that are one for each side. This means there is no need for any straps or other securing methods that would be visible through clothing which makes it perfect for wearing low cut and revealing tops or dresses where showing a bra strap would be tacky. It does however not offer much support to the breasts. Usually intended for backless and strapless fashions. You can either get disposable paper kinds  that have a good adhesive or you can go with the silicone type that can be washed and is able to be reused over and over again.
  • Bandeau Bra is a simple band of cloth worn across the breasts, providing little support or shaping.
  • Bralette is most commonly used as a trainer bra. It is typically unlined, is wire-free and usually does not have the typical behind the back snaps or eyelets. It can be a pullover style, and it provides little support. Somewhat similar to a Sports Bra, but this would be for younger girls.
  • Built-in Bra – This is a basic bra like feature that is connected inside the clothing or garment. It can be detachable from the clothing at times or it can be built right in as a permanent part of your clothes. This would be found on items like swim suits or tank tops, to provide basic support without the need for an actual bra, which would obviously be impractical when swimming etc, while still offering support. They would have foam padding or cups or help conceal nipples.
  • Convertible Bra – The convertible bra has straps that can be detached and used in several different ways depending on your needs and what outfit you want to wear.
  • Cup less Bra, a.k,a shelf bra (see Shelf Bra below), consist of a bra frame with no breast support or limited cups that only support a small portion of the lower half of the breast. Usually worn as erotic lingerie, a cup less bra can cause the shape of the nipples to be prominently visible beneath an outer garment worn by harlots.
  • Demi Bra -  The demibra is a half-cup bra style with wide-set straps and a horizontal bust line. Often being seamed or boned, these promote cleavage and a bra-like effect. These offer less support but enable low-cut garments to be worn without the woman's bra being seen.  a demi bra can be designed to provide lift as do push-up bras.
  • Front-closure bra – standard bras have traditional closures, which is usually hooks and eyelets, and they are usually located in the back of the bra. In the front closure bra the closure options are located on the front and not the back. One of the benefits of this is that the back of the bra is completely flat and does not show the typical wrinkle or bumps that you expect to see as fabric bunches up. Another benefit is that you don’t have to reach around the back if your joints are troublesome.
  • Full Support Bra – a full support bra is the kind that provides decent supports for the entire area of the breasts and therefore is a good bra to wear on any given day, especially for the larger woman.
  • Jogging Bra – Please see the Sports Bra.
  • Mastectomy Bra  - a mastectomy bra is a bra which has been developed to hold a prostheses is properly attached, and are used by women who have lost one or both breasts from either a mastectomy surgery for breast cancer or have had another loss.
  • Men’s Bra – or Boys Bra is worn by guys with large man boobs or also the medical condition of gynecomastia, and this is usually designed to flatten and conceal the breasts rather than to lift and support them.
  • Maternity bra - is designed such that its cups do expand to adjust as the breasts' increase in size over the course of a pregnancy. The term "maternity bra" can also refer to a nursing bra, but a nursing bra specifically has the function of providing breast access for a new born infant, and not just the extra room for expansion as milk comes in.
  • Minimizer bra – a minimizer bra again has a name that says it all. Almost the exact opposite of the Push Up bra or the shelf bra, the minimizer bra is designed to decrease the visibility, size and volume of the breast area, no matter what the purpose you may be trying to reach. By firmly securing the breast in place it can also decrease the jiggle factor.
  • Novelty Bra – See below  Novelty bras are designed just for looks, sex appeal and attention, not for support. Use of different and unusual materials are the first place to start and then they move to shape, style and other ideas like exposing of nipples or other sexy looks.
  • Nursing Bra – the nursing bra is designed to help make breastfeeding quick and efficient. It gives the baby instant access to the nipples, which still providing support for the mom’s breasts that are usually full of milk and very heavy. The cups of the nursing bra are essentially covered with a flap of the bra that can be unlatched from the top, pulled down to expose the breast for quick and easy nursing. This eliminates the need for the mom to take offer her bra, or lift it over the breasts without unclasping it from the back which is not comfortable and does not offer any support during feeding.
  • Padded Bra – The padded bra once again has a very appropriate name that tells you most everything you need to know about it. It has an ample amount of padding and is otherwise a simple bra. The padding can be placed or found in different places along the bra to provide the padding in the areas needed most. The bra can conceal nipples that may have started to protrude due to cool temperatures or other factors. Typically a padded bra has a very sexy full figured look.  Compared to the push-up bra, the padded bra gives support the woman without significantly lifting them.
  • Plunge Bra – the plunge bra is found popular by women who love to wear extremely low cut attire or bikini style tops. As suggested by its name, this bra “plunges” deep between the woman's two breasts. This allows the bra to remain covered by even a low neckline. In general, a bra that is exposed under a low-cut shirt worn in public is considered to be unfashionable and possibly even mildly distasteful by many people. In addition to remaining invisible under low necklines, the plunge bra will create and accentuate the line of the breasts.
  • Posture Bra - a posture bra will assist with better posture and help you stand straighter. It with help with large breasted women who have back pain from large breast weight. It will help with the alignment of the spine.
  • Push-up bra – The name really says it all about this one. The push up bra does just that – it pushes the breasts up so that they are displayed in a way that gives far more cleavage. Men are attracted to cleavage and this will offer the attention that is desired.  Many push-up bras contain padding, typically made of foam or rubber, but some contain gel-filled pads. The main distinction between padded bras and push-up bras that incorporate padding is whether the padding is centered under the breasts to lift them or is outside the center so that the padding pushes the breasts inward.
  • Racerback bra – the racerback bra has shoulder straps that come over towards the back over the shoulder in a "V" pattern very close to the neck. This allows the woman to wear a good bra under a dress that would otherwise show off bra straps – which is obviously a serious fashion faux-pas – even though girls and women of all ages and backgrounds do it every day.
  • Sheer bra is made of translucent material through which the woman's nipples and the fronts of her breasts are usually visible. This kind of a bra is usually erotic wear because there is little reason for bra to be translucent and then get covered up by a slip, camisole, outer clothing, etc.
  • Shelf bra – The Shelf Bra is basically only a banding of material, usually with an underwire, composed in a way that acts as a literal shelf for the breasts to sit on while pushing them up to create more cleavage and it also leaves the nipple uncovered as it covers typically just the bottom half of the breasts.
  • Sinfully Seductive Satin Open Cup Shelf Demi Bra: Clothing

  • Softcup bra emphasized that it has no metal or hard plastic underwire support in the cups. Rather, this bra relies on the strength of its under band to provide support to the woman's breasts.
  • Sports Bra – the sports bra provides firm support for both breasts, it is meant to prevent discomfort and stretching/sagging of the breasts area during sports and other types of exercise workouts. Some women prefer to wear a sports bra all the time - perhaps even while sleeping as it provides both basic support without being constrictive or restrictive.
  • Strapless Bra - which has no shoulder straps, is designed for women wearing clothing that reveals her shoulders, collarbone area, and perhaps the top halves of the breasts—as far low as the tops of the areola. This bra is good for wearing beneath strapless evening gowns by women who choose not to go braless.
  • T-Shirt Bra - is designed to fit snug like a t-shirt so it does not have seams closure mechanisms or clasps. This allows you to wear a tight fitting t shirt and it will still give you the support of a bra. It’s possible to have a small amount
  • Training bras - are designed for girls who have begun to develop breasts but for whom a standard-size bra does not fit properly. They are of simple construction and offer little, if any, actual support. This gets girls used to wearing a bra and understanding the proper concealing of straps and even helps teach modesty. Don’t be afraid to get your girl started on a training bra early. It will help her feel more confident later on. Make sure to teach her about the many different options for bras and that she can choose what she finds most suiting, rather than expecting she will prefer the same kind you do.
  • U-plunge bras are designed just like the name says to have a deep plunge in the front in the basic shape of a U so that it can be worn with a deep plunge neckline or other revealing attire.
  • Underwire bra – This kind of bra can be very uncomfortable for many body types. The underwires are built to give support to the more full figured woman, so women who are less well endowed may have issues with poking and tightness of the underwire bra in different areas or settings. The obvious nature of the underwire is to offer great support and nor sag over time. Even when using a plastic “wire” support it can feel restrictive and too rigid for comfort.
